The photography industry has been a roller coaster ride since the apparition of smartphones. For this reason, from Globally Artists OÜ we have wanted to analyze how this sector is maintained, making an analysis to know in which countries photography is better paid.

In Spain, according to the Statista Research Department, in an investigation carried out on 22 professional photographers who work in Spain, 36% of those interviewed claim to earn between € 1,500 and € 2,000 per month. Thus, the average salary for photographers in Spain is slightly higher than € 1,500, that is, we are talking about € 20,000 per year, while the average salary of a Spanish worker is around € 2,300. Although there were also a considerable number of photographers who charged between € 600 and € 1,000. On the other hand, others that charged between € 3,000 and € 4,000 per month. We see, then, that in Spain the salary of a photographer is very varied and that it depends a lot on his cache and his experience.

But, what is the salary of a photographer in other countries?
  • In the United States, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a photographer was defined as $ 40,000 per year, that is, € 34,000 per year. We are talking about a monthly salary of practically € 3,000. This data, it is important to compare it with the average salary in the US, which is $ 66,000 per year.
  • In Norway workers charge on average about $ 4,000 per month, that is, about $ 50,000 per year, about € 42,000. Monthly about € 3,500. By contrast, the average salary in Norway is about € 62,000 per year.
  • The salary of a photographer in Mexico is around € 5,000 per year on average. That is, about € 400 a month on average. The average salary in Mexico is between $ 200 and $ 300.
In conclusion

After this global analysis, It is quite difficult to define in which country the photography is better paid. But we come to the conclusion that photography, in Europe and the United States, is well paid, but is somewhat below the average salary in these countries. While in South America average salaries are much lower, we observe that photographers do earn more than the average salary.

Despite these data, photography is an art in which salaries depend a lot on the type of photography in which one is specialized. And obviously, as in all sectors, there are photographers with a very high cache, who can charge exorbitant prices. In conclusion, the photography market is still very much alive, if you want to work on it it is more than possible. On the other hand, if you are a freelance photographer and do not want to be freelance, from Globally Artists OÜ we can manage all your invoices legally. How is it possible? Meet us!
